Oh my goodness…Wonderfestival.

•February 6, 2010 • Leave a Comment

This is a terrible, horrible, amazingly awesome time. So many amazing figures revealed, time to win the lottery!

Here are some that stood out to me:

Figmas:

KOS-MOS version 4 (oh joy).

Rei, Asuka, and Mari (Evangelion 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance versions.

Black Rock Shooter and Dead Master.

Michael Jackson – Thriller version (lawls, oh boy).

PVC:

Love Is War version Miku Hatsune, wow, amazing, but huge, sure to be ridiculously expensive.

Dead Master, BRS’ nemesis. The anime version of BRS was also shown colored, and there is also an anime version PVC of Dead Master, making a pair for each version.

Alter announced 1/8 scaled PVCs of Yuri and Flynn from Tales of Vesperia, pure awesome. There is also a trading figure set of the ToV crew from Kotobukiya.

Unknown thinger:

There is this new figure of Aegis from Persona 3 FES, not sure what it is, PVC figure or a resin kit, or who made it yet, but it looks awesome.

Update: the Aegis figure is by Cospa.

Figure Friday v1

•February 5, 2010 • Leave a Comment

Figure Friday: For figures in my collection that I don’t feel like reviewing. ;(

It will also be used to spotlight upcoming figures that tickle my fancy (and more importantly it helsp fill my alliteration quota).

This week will contribute to the Xenosaga round-up with  a couple pictures of an older KOS-MOS figure from Kaiyodo, the Mon-sieur BOME version.

The figure is pretty decent, not one of my favourites but it’s pretty solid. Her pose is pretty basic, standing straight up on a nice Zohar base. Her hair colour is a relatively vibrant blue which I do like, and it’s sculpted nicely, probably my favourite part of the sculpt.

Her outfit is done pretty accurately and with mostly excellent paint applications for the range (it was under $20). It was my first KOS-MOS figure so it will always be special to me. :3

Review: T-elos by Alter

Next up in the Xenosaga round-up is KOS-MOS version 4’s counterpart from Alter, T-elos.

TP-XX, or T-elos, I just realized, is practically impossible to talk about without massive spoilers. So we’ll just focus on the figure, but suffice it to say she looks like KOS-MOS with a mean tan for a reason. ^_^

Aw man, I dusted her right before the photoshoot. ~_~

Tsquared’s new Wii game renamed “Xenoblade”

•January 30, 2010 • Leave a Comment

Tetsuya Takahashi, you know, that guy behind Xenogears on the Playsation? The one who now has that development team Monolith Soft who made a little space-opera series? Xenosaga, was it? Well at last year’s E3 they revealed a new game for the Wii called Monado:  Beginning of the World, which is being fronted by Satoru Takahashi, who also worked on Xenosaga.  On January 28th, Nintendo updated it’s release schedule for the year, and Monado changed to Xenoblade.

Exciting? I think so, even if they just used the Xenoseries type title for attention.

The teaser website can be visited here. It features the above artwork and a lovely piece of music playing in the background.

Gallery and trailer after the break.

Craptastic Bargains! Volume 1

•January 29, 2010 • Leave a Comment

Welcome to Craptastic Bargains! Volume 1!

There are two kinds of Craptastic Bargains:

1. A very good item on sale, and the price is still high enough to make you cry.

2. A very crappy item on sale for a really good price, even for crap!

This one is the latter, for all the Xenosaga fans, ’cause obviously that’s where alot of my attention goes to.  And it’s all about the crap.

One commenter (Ju) on the KOS-MOS ver.4 Alter review mentioned the Motion Revive figure that’s out there of that KOS-MOS version. Well, the figure is pretty much in the zone of what I consider craptacular. From my understanding though, Motion Revive figures cater to a market for tiny little articulated figures, so I guess for the scale these figures are alright. From Xenosaga there are two, the ver.4 KOS-MOS, and a T-elos.

Each of these figures include bonus parts that belong to the other, so you have to get both for them to be “complete.”

It was mentioned that KOS-MOS goes for about $15.99-$19.99 USD on eBay and Amazon, which is really too much when you factor in the quality, and add shipping on top of that.

Well, I managed to snag them both from Hobby Link Japan for about $20 CND, including shipping. they’re on clearance for about $6.50 each USD.

You can find a written review of KOS-MOS here.

You can find a video review for KOS-MOS here.

You can find a video review for T-elos here.

And if you are interested in buying them, or just can’t help yourself ’cause you’re like me and you have a problem, you can find and order KOS-MOS here and/or T-elos here from HLJ. They’re both in stock but they’ve been on clearance for a while so I’m not sure how long they’ll last.

Review: Pre-Painted 1/4 Scale KOS-MOS from Volks (by e2046 Gathering)

•January 28, 2010 • 2 Comments

What a mouthful of a title.

Part 1 of the Xenosaga Round-up!

Everybody’s favourite blue-haired, Gnosis killing, often bathing suit wearing, cold-blooded killing machine has been given the Official Garage Kit treatment by Volks. You can pic up the lovely, high quality, and beautifully sculpted unpainted, unassembled resin kit for $600. Well, assuming you have a time machine to go back to the two events she was sold at. Otherwise, you’re going to have to settle for a dupe from your favourite, copyright infringing re-caster service. In my case, e2046.com, who also offer the figure  pre-painted through their “Gathering” service. If you have the skills, paint her yourself, because as beautifully done as she is, this figure was quite the hassle. She’s worth it, though, and so massive she’ll definitely stand out in your collection, she scared the other toys.

T-elos is in for a nasty surprise.

More pictures and useless text after the break!

Review: KOS-MOS version 4 by Alter

•September 28, 2008 • 4 Comments

*fanboy noises*

I don’t know what it is, mayber her Simulated Personality OS, or possibly her superior breed of nanomachines, whatever it is, I love her. KP-X 00-00-00-00-1 is definitely my favourite Special Humanoid Anti-Gnosis Annihilation Weapon. Introducing the fourth incarnation of the anti-Gnosis tactic system Kosmos Obey Strategic Multiple Operation Systems, or KOS-MOS, as seen in Xenosaga Episode III: Thus Spoke Zarathustra. Produced by figure company Alter.

You know you want to click it click it click it for some thoughts and pretty pictures:
